Sighthound Dietary Options

What goes in the bowl matters just as much as what happens on the Heath. Sighthounds are lean, athletic dogs with sensitive digestions, so I feed them on a fresh, species-appropriate diet built around real ingredients. Here is how I feed the hounds in my care, and the options available if your dog needs something different.

Raw feeding

Raw is my default. A balanced raw diet supports a healthy gut, steady energy, a glossy coat and a strong immune system, and it suits the sighthound constitution well.

Breakfast

A nutritionally complete raw food, rich in high-quality natural ingredients, to start the day with everything a working sighthound needs.

Dinner

Duck wings with frozen veg, pumpkin seeds, beetroot powder, celery seeds and seaweed. A nutrient-dense meal that delivers high-quality protein, essential vitamins and minerals, with antioxidants from the seeds and seaweed to support joints and aid digestion.

• Dental health, as chewing helps clean teeth, prevent plaque and strengthen the jaw.

• Hypoallergenic, ideal for dogs with food sensitivities or allergies.

After dinner

A 100% natural air-dried chew stick. Great for dental health, helping reduce plaque and tartar, while satisfying the chewing instinct and providing some mental stimulation. No additives, no preservatives.

Kibble and tinned food

I do not recommend kibble or tinned diets as a rule. Heavy processing can strip out nutrients, enzymes and moisture, which over time can affect digestion, coat condition and dental health.

That said, I understand these options can be more convenient or affordable. On request I will feed a premium kibble and tinned brand, and I enrich each meal with a small blend of pumpkin seeds, beetroot powder, celery seeds, seaweed and some chopped duck wings. A natural air-dried chew stick follows every meal to support your dog’s teeth.

Every dog is different. If your sighthound is already settled on a particular food, or has specific dietary needs, we will sort it out at the meet and greet so the transition into boarding is seamless.
